Austrian born Willi Wetscher, Executive Chef since 1999 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ottawa has worked and studied in such diverse places as Mayrhofen Tirol, Vienna Austria, Geneva Switzerland, Berlin Germany, London England, Toronto Ontario, Melbourne Australia, Saint John New Brunswick, before finally settling down in Ottawa in 1988. In Ottawa Willi has worked in mayor establishments such as the Chateau Laurier Hotel, the Westin Hotel and Les Cercle Universitaire d’Ottawa. He has also helped out on occasion as a cooking professor at Algonquin College. Willi has won many medals and prestigious mentions at various competitions. Willi also enjoys public cooking demonstrations and often appears on television and in print. He has cooked for personalities such as Mikhael Gorbachov, Jimmy Carter, Prince Charles and Lady Diana to mention a few.
